Job duties include:
NEW PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT
DEVELOP NEW PRODUCTS FROM FORMULATION TO SAMPLES TESTING;
PERFORM ENGINEERING STUDIES OF NEW PRODUCTS AND PROCESSES;
UTILIZE ADVANCED DATA INTERPRETATION METHODS TO EVALUATE NEW MATERIALS, NEW AND EXISTING PRODUCTS AND PROCESSES TO MEET INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL CUSTOMER REQUIREMENTS; TRANSLATE PRODUCT NEEDS TO EXPERIMENTAL DATA OR DESIGN PARAMETERS;
DEFINE AND OVERSEE SAMPLE FABRICATION;
DEVISE QUALIFICATION AND VALIDATION EFFORTS, AND PERFORM ROOT CAUSE ANALYSIS;
PROVIDE LEADERSHIP IN NEW PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT FROM COST ESTIMATE TO PRODUCT TESTING AND FULL PRODUCTION RUN;
DEVELOP TEST PROCESSES FOR THE QUALIFICATION AND ACCEPTANCE OF RAW MATERIALS;
CONDUCT QUALITATIVE AND QUANTITATIVE CHEMICAL ANALYSIS AND PHYSICAL PROPERTY TESTING OF INGREDIENTS, MATERIALS AND PRODUCTS;
IDENTIFY AND DEVELOP ADDITIONAL TEST SERIES FOR MATERIALS AND PROCESSING CHARACTERIZATION;
COORDINATE TESTING WITH EXTERNAL RESOURCES TO CREATE PERFORMANCE BASELINES WITH WHICH TO EVALUATE SUBSEQUENTLY PROCURED MATERIALS LOTS;
EVALUATE AND PROVIDE QUALITY OVERSITE OF TEST DATA OF ACQUIRED MATERIALS FOR ACCEPTANCE;
GENERATE TEST PLANS, TEST REPORTS, PRESENTATIONS AND PROCESS DOCUMENTS ASSOCIATED WITH TASK ACTIVITIES;
PROVIDE CHEMICAL ENGINEERING INPUT INTO DESIGN CHANGES INCLUDING PROCESS SAFETY AND PROCESS CONTROL;
QUALITY CONTROL AND TROUBLESHOOTING
CONDUCT QUALITY CONTROL AND TESTING OF INCOMING RAW MATERIALS, ADDITIVES, USING LABORATORY EQUIPMENT (MFIM, FTIR, LABORATORY EXTRUDERS, OTM) AND TOOLS;
FORMULATE AND CORRECT RAW MATERIAL MIX DEPENDING ON PRODUCTION AND INCOMING RAW MATERIALS;
TROUBLESHOOTING WITH RAW MATERIAL DEFECTS ON THE PRODUCTION SITE (INCLUSIONS, BLACK SPECKS, GELS, STRIPES, SPLITS, ETC.);
CONDUCT HANDS-ON ANALYSIS AND TROUBLESHOOTING OF PROCESS PROBLEMS IN EXTRUSION THAT ARISE IN MANUFACTURING;
COORDINATION WITH MAINTENANCE STAFF AND CONTRACT PROVIDERS TO TROUBLESHOOT EQUIPMENT AND PERFORM/FACILITATE REPAIRS AS REQUIRED; WORKING WITH CLAIMS AND QUALITY COMPLAINING, IDENTIFICATION AND ELIMINATION CAUSE OF DEFECTS OF FINAL GOODS;
CONTROL OF PERFORMING DAILY/WEEKLY/MONTHLY MAINTENANCE, ORGANIZATION OF PREVENTIVE REPAIR OF PRODUCTION EQUIPMENT OR TOOLS;
LEAD AND PARTICIPATE IN INCIDENT INVESTIGATIONS AND CAUSE ANALYSIS;
PRODUCTION
ANALYZE EXISTING PROCESSES TO IDENTIFY IMPROVEMENT OPPORTUNITIES.
PERFORM PROJECT-BASED IMPROVEMENT INITIATIVES FOR NEW AND EXISTING PROCESSES TO DEVELOP COST-EFFECTIVE MANUFACTURING SOLUTIONS;
DEVELOP AND UPDATE OPERATING PROCEDURES AND TRAINING MATERIALS, AND LEAD TRAINING.
LEAD DEVELOPMENT OF PRODUCTION PLANS INCLUDING OPERATION SCHEDULING AND OPERATION CONDITIONS.
MONITOR PRODUCT AND PROCESS PERFORMANCE; SET-UP AND/OR PARTICIPATE IN EXECUTING SYSTEMS TO TRACK PERFORMANCE AND PRIORITIZE IMPROVEMENT OPPORTUNITIES.
LEAD AND PARTICIPATE IN VARIOUS QUALITY FUNCTIONS AND FOOD PACKAGING SAFETY PROGRAMS, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, NON-CONFORMANCE REVIEW, STUDY AND DISPOSITION, CAPAS VALIDATIONS, AND CAPABILITY STUDIES;
PROVIDE DAILY SUPPORT TO OPERATORS WITH USING NEW MATERIAL AND RAW MIXES, AND WITH PRODUCTION OF NEW MATERIAL SAMPLES;
Position Requirements:
MASTERS DEGREE IN CHEMICAL ENGINEERING OF HIGH MOLECULAR COMPOUNDS;
2 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE IN THE JOB OFFERED;
EXPERIENCE MUST INCLUDE POLYETHYLENE/POLYPROPYLENE PROCESSING AND CHEMICAL AND/OR POLYMER MANUFACTURING;
ABILITY TO PERFORM AND IMPLEMENT LABORATORY TEST METHODS OF PLASTICS FILMS AND FLAT MATERIALS, INCLUDING FTIR SPECTROSCOPY (ACQUISITION AND READING OF IR SPECTRUM), TENSILE TESTING MACHINE (COF, BLOCKING TEST, TENSILE STRENGTH), OPTICAL PARAMETERS TESTING (HAZE, OPACITY), MELT INDEX MEASURING, LAMINATION TESTS.
EXPERIENCE IN IMPLEMENTATION OF ISO 9001 QUALITY STANDARDS;
MUST POSSESS KNOWLEDGE OF PLASTICS AND HIGH-MOLECULAR MATERIAL, RESINS, POLYOLEFINS RAW MATERIAL (LDPE/HDPE/LLDPE/METALLOCENE AND PE COPOLYMERS), ADDITIVES FOR PE/PP PROCESSING;
MUST HAVE EXPERIENCE OVERSEEING PLASTIC PRODUCTION EQUIPMENT START UP, SET UP AND TROUBLESHOOTING, ESPECIALLY EXTRUDERS;
MUST BE ABLE TO STAND AND WALK UP TO 80% OF WORKING TIME AND WEAR PPE (PERSONAL PROTECTING EQUIPMENT), INCLUDING EAR PROTECTORS, GOGGLES, SAFETY SHOES THROUGHOUT THE WORKDAY;
APPLICANTS MUST PASS BLOWN AND CAST EXTRUSION PRACTICAL TEST IN A WORKSHOP ENVIRONMENT;
APPLICANTS MUST PASS POLYOLEFINS FILM QUALITY AND STRUCTURE PRACTICAL TEST IN LABORATORY SETTING;
This is a full time position. Annual salary $76,627.
